Al-Kufa College of Health and Medical Technologies Holds a Training Course on International Dry Needling (Basic Level)

As part of its ongoing efforts to enrich the educational process with global expertise in medical specialties directly related to human health, the Department of Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Technologies at the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Kufa, one of the formations of the Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized a specialized training course entitled “International Dry Needling (Basic Level)”, held from October 28–29, 2025.

The course was delivered by Professor Dr. Hani Ali Qasim Al-Uqaili, an international trainer from Doha, Qatar, and was attended by physiotherapy specialists from the Ministry of Health, professionals from various provinces, as well as students from the department.

The course aimed to enhance participants’ competence in managing musculoskeletal and myofascial pain by introducing them to the latest therapeutic approaches and technical applications in dry needling therapy.

The first day of the training focused on explaining theories of myofascial trigger points, the development stages of the dry needling concept, as well as precautions and safe practices for using the needles. It also reviewed recent global advancements in therapeutic techniques widely applied in clinical practice.

The second day was dedicated to the practical component, featuring intensive hands-on training on upper and lower limb muscles, including detailed explanations of muscle anatomy and pain localization.

In her remarks, Professor Dr. Angham Jassim Al-Rumahey, Dean of the College, emphasized that “holding such courses is of great importance on multiple levels. It helps participants become acquainted with the latest therapeutic updates and proper examination techniques to develop effective treatment plans. Moreover, it broadens their knowledge and enhances their practical skills in modern physiotherapy methods, preparing them to apply these techniques professionally when dealing with various medical cases.”
