The Department of visual inspection techniques, at the Faculty of Health and medical technologies/Kufa, one of the formations of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, concluded the tagged scientific course, the negative effects of chemical pesticides on human health, which lasted for three days to cover the requirements of the course.
The first day of the course was initiated in the definition of chemical pesticides, and the types of chemical pesticides that are used in the fight against harmful insects, pesticides used to combat harmful plants, pesticides targeting pathogenic fungi, pesticides used to control rodents such as mice were also identified.
The second day was devoted to the negative effects on human health, as exposure to these pesticides can lead to several health problems, ranging from acute poisoning to chronic effects such as cancer and neurological diseases, and the health risks of direct exposure through inhalation and absorption through the skin, as for long-term effects, including chronic diseases and hormonal disorders.
The course concluded by identifying pesticide-related diseases such as cancer, nervous system problems such as memory impairment, neuropathy, and effects on the immune system, and also classified ways to reduce risks using organic pesticides, relying on sustainable agriculture, awareness and education about the safety of using pesticides.
