The legal entity of a government institution may be at the level of a department, as in the headquarters of state ministries and entities not associated with a ministry, and it may be at the level of a department, as is the case with public companies and public bodies, or it may be at the level of a division, as is the case in directorates.
These levels vary depending on the administrative and organizational structures of government institutions . However, even if these levels vary, the legal departments or divisions remain with similar tasks, duties and specific powers .
The legal division is the same as the rest of the other divisions that make up the organizational and administrative structure of the government department, where it has specific duties under the law, and those duties are internal and external, and the internal duties are the legal and administrative links between the legal division and the rest of the departments and divisions in the Department on the one hand, and some legal matters for employees …
1-contributing to the investigative committees and related legal works between the college and its members.
2-providing opinion and legal advice and answering inquiries about legal consultations.
3-drafting, organizing and ratifying contracts, pledges and guarantees related to the work of the college.
4-ratification of guarantees and study commitments inside and outside Iraq.
5-providing legal advice to the Departments of the college.
6-walk the administrative matters of the legal division.
7-archiving all the minutes of the investigative committees and student discipline committees.
8-approving the contracts concluded by the faculty, pledges, teachers ‘ loans, staff advances and opening a special register for that.
9-reviewing the state departments for the completion of the college’s work from a legal point of view, if so requested.
10-attend the meetings of the officials of the legal divisions in the presidency of the University.
11-opening a special register of contracts and their impact in all respects(the names of the parties, the duration of the contract, the amount of the contract, the obligations of the parties) and approving them.
12-work on the establishment of a mini-legal library containing the collection of laws in force and some books that explain some of the laws related to work within the college, including:
A-the law of discipline of state and public sector employees. (B) the Civil Service Act .C-the law of the Ministry of Higher Education.- The law of implementation. E-the government debt collection law and other books, such as (appointed human rights officer)
13-holding seminars on legal culture in cooperation with the relevant competent authorities within the college and the University
1.The legal division seeks to achieve justice among the faculty members in accordance with the laws, regulations and instructions.
2.The legal division is responsible for providing legal protection to the college and defending it before the courts and judicial authorities.

2-organizing a form of Master’s and doctoral study commitments inside and outside Iraq.
3-organizing pledges for employees within the University.

Expressing the legal opinion of all departments, divisions and units of the college.
Audit the minutes of the investigative and audit committees .
Checking the morning and evening transactions of new students.
Follow-up of transactions of stolen cars belonging to the college
Directing disciplinary penalties against violators.
Organizing the undertakings of college vehicle drivers .
Organizing salary receipt agencies for all university employees .
Tasks and duties:
Follow-up of cases received by the University from the courts and from the formations.
Follow-up of complaints received from police stations and University formations .
Follow-up of the investigative committees formed within the University and from the formations.
