Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University concludes the chemical and biological safety and security course

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Angham Jassim Al-Ramahi, Dean of the College, the Department of Anesthesia Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Technologies/Kufa, one of the formations of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, concluded a course in chemical, biological and radiological safety and security, in which a group of the department’s teachers took turns giving lectures.
The course aimed to clarify the importance of practicing safety and security procedures in biological laboratories and the importance of following procedures to reduce accidents and occupational diseases.

The course included an introduction to the safety and security of laboratories, Occupational Health and safety rules for employees, personal protection methods, biosecurity or biosafety levels, an explanation of all types of hazards in laboratories, as well as explaining the types of fire extinguishers and how to use them to protect laboratory workers from injuries caused by the hazards of the work environment .
The course recommended the need to develop an emergency plan in laboratories that shows the stages of training on prevention methods and occupational safety conditions and the importance of spreading health awareness among employees and their families by focusing on the most frequent laboratory accidents and analyzing them in order to minimize or avoid their occurrence to some extent .
