About the Department
The department was established in 2023, and aims to graduate specialized technical cadres, qualified to work in eye hospitals and health centers in the field of vision examination, determining the degree of vision, vision correction, and strabismus correction, as well as working in laboratories for fitting lenses for medical glasses through the use of medical computers in diagnosing and evaluating vision examinations and working on prescribing, fitting, and caring for medical lenses and glasses.
Vision
The graduate of the Department must possess distinguished practical and scientific skills in the scientific and academic community and must play an effective and influential practical role in the technical and health field, thus meeting the needs of society and the requirements of the labor market.
Message
Qualifying graduates of the Department to work in eye hospitals and health centers, capable of performing outstandingly, with a high level of education and competent skills in the fields of vision examination, determining vision, correcting strabismus, and prescribing contact lenses.
Aims
The department seeks to achieve the following objectives:
1. Prepare and train specialized personnel in the field of optics technology.
2. Examine vision, assess vision, correct strabismus, recommend lens types, and manufacture replacements.
3. Work in lens fitting workshops for eyeglasses and use medical computers in eye examinations and evaluations.
4. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and various ophthalmic and optical replacements, repair eyeglasses, and maintain and care for optical medical devices. This is achieved through continuous updating and development of curricula and study plans in all scientific and practical fields, while ensuring the availability of teaching staff at universities and institutes to serve the community.
