Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University organizes a scientific symposium on the harms of smoking on pregnant women
Activating awareness programs and plans aimed at highlighting the most important issues and topics serving the community. The Department of community health technologies, at the Faculty of Health and medical technologies/Kufa, organized a scientific symposium entitled The harm of smoking on pregnant women, which dealt with the relationship between pregnancy and smoking from a scientific and medical point of view. The seminar aimed to introduce smoking and its harmful impact on the environment in general and on human health in particular and pregnant women in particular, in addition to what is passive smoking or second-hand smoking The seminar reviewed, the harms of smoking are organic and systemic, and they do not affect only one organ of the body, but their impact extends to other organs such as the respiratory system, circulatory system, digestive system, reproductive system and others . The emphasis was placed on the harm of smoking to pregnant women and the fetus, and the emphasis was placed on the fact that the use of some electronic and electronic cigarettes, believing that they are less harmful than regular cigarettes, strongly increases the risk of lung infection with chronic diseases such as asthma, increased risk of premature birth, circulatory problems and long-term damage that is difficult to treat .
