The Department of visual examination techniques at the Faculty of Health and medical technologies\/Kufa, one of the formations of the Middle Euphrates Technical University, and in cooperation with the psychological counseling and educational guidance unit, organized a seminar entitled immunizing the university community against the danger of drugs within the University Counseling Week.
The symposium began by presenting the extent of the spread of the phenomenon of drugs of various types, which is one of the dangerous phenomena sweeping the world in this era, which some researchers have called the era of drug addiction.
The seminar also presented the most important causes of drug abuse and addiction, namely curiosity among young people and peer pressure, migration, unemployment, the prevalence of social problems and the lack of positive attitudes towards society, frustration and frustration, especially among young people who resort to the use of narcotic substances as a way to escape from their actual reality.
In addition, there are links between drug use and the high rates of crime, violence and injuries suffered by the individual or others, whether intentionally or unintentionally, in addition to the negative impact of drug use on many health, social and economic aspects.
The seminar concluded with the need for all competent health authorities, including the government and civil society organizations to join hands in continuous education about the dangers of drug trafficking and abuse, as real recovery is not limited only to treating the symptoms of drug withdrawal and leaving the addict to relapse, but we must reach with him to recover his physical, psychological and social recovery, making sure that he returns effectively to society and integrate into it.
