The Department of medical laboratory technologies was established in the academic year (2011-2012) within the Departments of the Faculty of medical and health technologies under the name (pathological analysis technologies) and the name of the department was changed to (medical laboratory technologies) in the academic year (2019-2018). The Department grants a bachelor’s degree in pathological analysis, which in turn makes them qualified to complete their higher studies as well as practice their profession in health laboratories. The department includes () teaching staff and() external lecturers, () including PhD and () Masters holders, in addition to () employees representing the technical staff of the Department.
The vision
The Department of pathological analysis techniques represents an important and effective way to meet the need of society of specialized medical cadres in supporting various health, research and educational institutions, in addition to its endeavor to invest the skills of teachers and students in research and applied scientific studies, as well as training, awareness and drawing technical and professional expertise in scientific and research ways that suit the continuous development of pathological analysis techniques.
The Message
The Department of pathological analysis techniques came in order to meet the needs of health institutions for specialized service cadres with scientific specifications and standards , as well as how to prepare those cadres to work in those institutions, as well as support the private sector in this field, the development of teaching and student cadres in the fields of scientific and cognitive research and seeking to open graduate studies, which is the scientific asset of the department first and for other institutions secondly, which will work to build horizons of scientific cooperation with the corresponding scientific departments and related institutions to achieve strength in giving and renaissance in the Advanced Scientific and technical field.

The Goal
The Department pursues the following objectives:-
. Acquire all the basic knowledge and skills in the fields of pathoanalytics.

. Selection and preparation of materials required to carry out the work of pathological analyzes.
. Use and maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
. Identify the pathogens, whether they are bacterial, parasitic, fungal or viral, and acquire the ability to investigate them.
. Diagnosis of hereditary diseases and their distinction from acquired diseases.
. Dealing with infectious and communicable diseases and how to prevent them in the laboratory through the implementation of Occupational Safety Guidelines.
. Familiarity with the human aspects of the patient, which is an important part of the treatment.
